‘Ghost Whisperer’ returned with fourth season on October 3, 2008 and the season opener was entitled ‘Firestarter’. In the season opener, we saw that Eli had survived a fire in his office. She was at hospital and Melinda and Jim visited her. While at hospital, Melinda realized that she could hear the ghosts but couldn’t see them. With many doubts in her mind, Melinda started investigating the ghost that had been haunting him. As she got near to the truth, the ghost trapped her in a fire. Ned got a job at a Chinese restaurant as a waiter. Second episode of season was entitled ‘Big Chills’. Grace Adams, a popular former classmate, met Melinda. She was of thinking that she’s being haunted by her dead friend Lucas. As Melinda delved into the matter, she came to know Grace, Lucas and another buddy had covered up an accidental death. It was 10 year old incident and instead of informing the police, they tried to cover it up. Ultimately, it came into light that it was a case of hit and run. Then came the episode entitled ‘Ghost in the Medicine’. Here, we saw that Melinda, Ned and Eli found a ghost in the online game named Virtual Life. Later, it was discovered that the ghost was a father who was trying to make her daughter understand that a sexual marauder was trying to lure her through the game. After Melinda came to know about the truth, she was seen in a race against the time to save Alice and making the things worse was when Alice, the daughter, got into a car with the villain. Next episode in row was entitled ‘Save Our Souls’. Here, we saw that Melinda and Jim went on a cruise to celebrate their honeymoon. They met Rich and Julia, a young newly wed couple and after their first meeting, Melinda came to know that Rich was under the influence of a ghost. She later discovered that the ship was full of ghosts and she saw them partying and enjoying.
Later, it came into light that the ghost was of a gal who was murdered some time ago. As of then, she was looking for her fiancé who did wrong to her and she used to attach herself to any man whom she thought could be her fiancé. Then we watched the episode entitled ‘Bloodline’. Here, we saw that a young woman died. She wanted Melinda not to tell the truth about her ancestry to her family as it’d hurt her mother. However, Melinda decided to tell the secret to her mother and then the gal came to know that lady had always known about it. As episode came near to its end, Melinda discovered that she might be pregnant but visiting the doctor was completely disappointing. Next to it was the episode entitled ‘Imaginary Friends and Enemies’. It was the wedding of Jim’s friend Trish. Melinda and Jim visited the occasion and Melinda came to know that Trish was being haunted by a child ghost who was forcing her to play a game. After she played the game, Trish discovered a dreadful truth about her fiancé which made her to call off the wedding. Jim got shot in a struggle with an enraged ex-fiancé of Trish and was taken to the Hospital. He appeared in front of Melinda in the form of a ghost. Next to it was the episode entitled ‘Threshold’. Here, we saw that Melinda was trying to help a troubled teenage ghost. Doing that was not very easy as she had to manage her personal issues as well. A car crashed and Jim’s soul enters into the victims’ body believing it’d help him to regain his life. Then came the episode entitled ‘Heart & Soul’. In this episode, we saw that the man whose body was gotten by Jim was suffering from amnesia. As the man had no memory so Melinda tried to help him regain his memory. Next episode in row was entitled ‘Pieces of You’. Here we saw that a girl had been missing for 12 years. Melinda tracked down her and it caused revelation of a long held secret.
Next episode was entitled ‘Ball & Chain’. In this episode, Melinda was seen helping a ghost to deal with hard truths about her marriage. Next episode of season was entitled ‘Life on the Line’. In this episode, a 14 year old ghost was shown who was trying to get his divorced parents and brother together. Discovery of a secret might help Melinda to bring Jim (Sam’s body) memory back. We next watched the episode entitled ‘This Joint’s Haunted’. Melinda went on a road trip with Sam (Jim) and they got into some trouble. It was the episode in which Melinda faced the biggest threat to her romantic relationship. In ‘Body of Water’, we saw that Sam’s girlfriend Nikki visited and Melinda feared that it’d never be possible for Sam/Jim to reconnect to his true nature. She also came to know about a mysterious group of ghosts by a lake. Next episode in row was entitled ‘Slow Burn’. Here we saw that Melinda and Sam (Jim) decided to have a date. Meanwhile, Melinda also helped the ghost of Deborah Marks to protect her daughter, named Kristy from a dangerous boyfriend. Then was the episode entitled ‘Greek Tragedy’. Here we saw that it was a secret initiation ceremony of sorority and a girl went missing. Sam must ponder over his relationship with Melinda after he caught her in several lies. Above episode have been aired and below are the ones who’re to be aired in next future.
Next episode would be entitled ‘Ghost Busted’. In this episode we would meet Linus, a ghost hunter. John and Devon, Melinda’s neighbors would hire him to investigate a haunting in their house. Melinda would share her very special gift with Sam and his reaction would be really very devastating. Next to it would be the episode entitled ‘Delusions of Grandview’. Here, we would see that Melinda would try to solve another mystery. It would be related to a local kindergarten so Melinda would have to stop the haunting so that all children can be saved as soon as possible. We’d next watch the episode entitled ‘Leap of Faith’. In this episode, a mechanic would be introduced with several things in common with Sam. Then would be the episode entitled ‘Thrilled to Death’. Here, we will see that Eli would work to find out a connection between a younger woman and an older man. They both have attended a group therapy together and both would be on the verge of death. Jim (Sam) would come to remember something from his past and when he would feel a little saddened about it, Delia would try to comfort him. Next would be the episode ‘Stage Fight’. A TV show would be filmed in the Grandview Town Square and a ghost would be there to make trouble for the crew. Then would be the episode ‘Cursed’. Rest of the episodes is yet to be declared and they would be added as soon as they’re aired/declared.
