Ghost Whisperer revolves around Melinda Gordon who is a young newly wed woman who has just moved to a small town Grandview and opened an antique shop. The series is inspired by real-life cases of famed psychic James Van Praagh. Melinda has a supernatural power that she can communicate with ghosts. She possesses this gift ever since she was a child.
Her unique ability allows her to talk with who have died and who needs her help.
Melinda uses her ability to convey messages to living but she also faces difficulties when messages are incomplete and confusing. It leads to some queries often asked by survivors. Melinda actually retains her unique quality as an asset not as a liability. Her family and friends are well aware about her power and are very helpful to her and support her in her efforts. Melinda wants to live an ordinary life and wants to ignore this unique gift as the instructions from ghosts lead her to some serious investigations.
